FarmerAbout UsMakaleha Farms is named after the Makaleha mountain range that runs along just West of the property. Farmers Richard and Hope grow two varieties of macadamia nuts on their six acre orchard in Kapaa Homesteads. Nuts go through four stages of growth, with the flowers forming a long, fragrant column. Once nuts fall to the ground, they are gathered and the green husk is removed. The in-shell nuts are air dried on screens before being packaged and sold at local markets. Makaleha Farms has won several blue ribbons from the Kauai County Farm Bureau's County Fair for raw nuts in a shell.
